May Mission: Side Table
Under $1,200
The Tulip Table is one of my all time favorite pieces. It is iconic, classic, simple and fun.
Many companies make this style. They range in price, material and size. Here are a few of my favorites.

Get to Work
Book Storage
This weather makes me want to curl up in my large chair with a hot cup of tea or cocoa, my homemade quilt and a good book!
It also gets me thinking of those boxes in the basement closet full of books I have yet to read or would like to embrace again. I need a bookcase, or many …
Adventures in Fargo
Last month I was in Fargo, North Dakota for a design project I am working on. Everything I needed was within 6 blocks of my hotel. Although I was in the heart of downtown, it was like I was in a quaint small town.
Inspired Appliances
Many of you already know me as an Interior Designer with a focus in Kitchen & Bathroom design. Much of the reason for this direction in my career is due to my love for those two spaces and the need to often remodel those spaces.
A recent project had me online searching through the Smeg appliance website. It is not a well know brand in the US but it should be. I am thankful that I not only get to dream about it in projects but also have access to purchase it for my clients.
Here are a few options I presented to the client as well as my personal favorites.
The “feet” are amazing. It is sophisticated without feeling heavy like so many industrial options can be.
Seriously. Freckles + Sun = Cancer
I have a lot of freckles.
I enjoyed my time in the sun in high school and college a few too many times for too long.
I have Skin Cancer.
The not-so-scary kind.
If that really exists.
I’ve had a “pimple” type spot on my middle chest for a while. It would occasionally become irritated and itchy. It didn’t go away. It got bigger, but only a tad bit. I may have not noticed it if I wasn’t so crazy visual.
In the back of my mind, I kept hearing “Fair skin people are always recommended to have a regular dermatologist.” I knew this and had already been thinking it might be time. I’m not getting younger. And, let’s be honest, I have more speckles then I can keep track of. :)
So, I mentioned it to my regular doctor and she gave me a recommendation. It took over 6 months to get in. Hmmm….guess there is a shortage if anyone is in medical school looking for a specialty.
My doctor ~ BEST EVER, btw ~ was amazing. So nice, informative, efficient & polite.
Did I mention I have a LOT of freckles, moles and “age spots? Well, he commented. Yes, he earned his money.
3 biospies later….
Basal-Cell Carcinoma ~ a skin cancer, is the most common cancer. It rarely metastasizes or kills. However, because it can cause significant destruction and disfigurement by invading surrounding tissues, it is still considered malignant. ~ Wikipedia
1 was fully removed in the biosy so it will be watched.
1 was “nothing”.
1 is in need of removal.
“Off to the plastic surgeon I go.”
Never thought I would say that!
One this is for sure… You must LOVE yourself before you can LOVE anything or anyone else.
Take care of yourself.

My Crazy Little Family
My sister and her girls were in town a few weekends ago. As usual, we jam-packed a BA-ZILLION things into 24 hours. Yep…typical.
Saturday was reserved for the oldest, Briella’s, 6th birthday extravaganza ~ 3 hours at a park & then a party at their hotel ~ so we fit family photos at the Walker Art Center, sculpture garden (aka let the kids run off some energy) visit, dinner & neighborhood Halloween Event in about 5 hours on Friday.
My buddy, Sara, took our photos.
Gluten Free ~ Let the Adventures Begin!
Well, I think the title says it all. I’ve finally narrowed down my digestive issues (of 10+ years) to Gluten, and most likely Dairy.
I’ve spent the majority of my free time over the past year researching, researching and researching. It turns out, I can do this and will have LOTS of help. GOD BLESS the internet!
To date, I’ve eaten a lot of vegetables, fruit, legumes and quinoa as well as a variety of items purchased from local stores. AND consumed a few (ok, several) mugs of Almond Chai.
I’ve also started cooking.
*gasp*
Yes, I know. I’m a “I prefer not to cook” kind of gal.
Guess some things change.
I started with soup. Easy peezy. Broth based with lots of veggies (mostly carrots, corn, beans, celery and herbs). Then, I moved on to online recipes. My favorite so far (I’ve made 3 times already) is this one from Skinny MS fo Quinoa with BlackBeans

Looks good, I know! It was!
Tonight I am cooking dry beans. I’m a tad scared I will blow it … here goes nothing …
